The fuller reflection

“The programme helped me focus on exactly the right things”

Time 2 Display Group is a well-established commercial digital print business founded and led by Andrew Wilson. It spans three revenue streams: commercial digital print for corporate and trade clients, branded merchandise, and Paper Meadows, a specialist weddings brand offering bespoke printed stationery and decorative products.

As a participant in HP’s development programme, the business has early access to emerging print technologies, keeping it at the forefront of digital innovation.

“We’ve got the capacity, the team and the reputation. The programme helped me focus on exactly the right things to bring in the customers and the revenue that will make the real difference.”

The problem

Ready for 10–20% growth, but the challenge was commercial, not operational

When Andrew joined the Big Ambitions Programme, Time 2 Display was coming out of a temporary downturn linked to reduced corporate spending, and recovery was clearly under way.

The people, equipment and production capacity were already in place to accommodate 10–20% growth. The question was how to attract more of the mid-sized and larger corporate clients who generate the regular, repeat business at which Time 2 Display excels, and how to reduce reliance on the existing customer base by opening up new revenue streams.

How we helped

A new sales model, new digital channels and a sharper B2B presence

Working with mentor Samantha Harland, Andrew focused his programme time on three clear priorities, then brought them together into a single, coherent growth plan.

1

A sales agent model for Paper Meadows

A flexible, commission-based model with agents operating in exclusive territories and attending wedding shows for the brand, extending its reach without adding fixed costs.

2

Testing digital channels with AI

Using AI tools to set up eBay listings and configure product variants, testing the channel before committing resource to larger platforms. Print OS AI features such as artwork defect detection and resolution enhancement were explored to reduce rework and protect margins.

3

A smarter B2B presence

A targeted LinkedIn strategy with a consistent posting rhythm, clearer profile positioning and a defined set of target sectors, plus trade bodies as routes into priority markets and a specialist B2B sales development resource for larger accounts.

4

An integrated ecommerce roadmap

A plan for a fit-for-purpose digital sales channel connecting Print OS, Xero and shipping APIs, avoiding the manual workload that generic storefronts had created in the past.

The outcome

Clear priorities and a platform for long-term value

Andrew leaves the programme with clear priorities, a sharper commercial strategy and practical tools to pursue the growth the business is already capable of delivering.

Building a business with real value

The ambition is not growth for its own sake, but a business with genuine balance sheet value and the platform for a potential management buyout over the coming years.

Next up: launching the Paper Meadows sales agent network, taking the new ecommerce website live and building a more systematic approach to corporate client acquisition.

A new route to market

A commission-based agent model to take Paper Meadows to wedding shows in new territories.

New channels tested

eBay set up with the help of AI, and an ecommerce roadmap built around Print OS, Xero and shipping.

Sharper B2B focus

A LinkedIn strategy and clear target sectors to win more mid-sized and larger corporate clients.
